Stephen Bly's Fool's Gold
|
In 1905, the Skinners are traveling to California to live near O.T. Skinner's brother when they decide to pass through Goldfield, NV, the last gold-rush boomtown to spring up. O.T. and his wife, Dola, don't plan to stay; they want to build a good life for their four children elsewhere. However, circumstances and their belief that God leads them end up keeping them in Goldfield, where they quickly shut down a water monopoly, befriend both sides of a feud, and help another poor family get back on its feet. Bly (Proud Quail of the San Joaquin) provides a rip-roaring Western in the tradition of Louis L'Amour, filled with humorous characters and an abiding appreciation for the Lord's mysterious ways.
